The Deluxe Studio has a Mevo Start camera and an iPad with the Mevo app, mounted on the wall above the Yamaha mixer. You can use them to stream your session live from your own account.

Where you can stream

  • YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch: built into the Mevo app.
  • Instagram: possible, but takes an extra step. You'll need the stream URL and stream key from your Instagram account, which you paste into the Mevo app as a Custom RTMP destination.

Before your session

  • Make sure you can log in to the account you want to stream to.
  • New to live streaming on YouTube? YouTube can take up to 24 hours to switch it on for your account, so turn it on a day early.

Set up

  1. Turn on the camera: hold down the button on the back of the camera until the lights on the back come on.
  2. Open the Mevo app on the iPad (no passcode needed). It should find the camera on its own. If it doesn't, tap the camera in the list.
  3. Check the picture on the iPad and frame your shot in the app. Please don't move the camera. If you need a different angle, email us before your session.

Sound

The Yamaha mixer is connected to the iPad, so the vocal mics go out on the stream. The camera's own mic picks up the room, including drums and amps that don't go through the PA.

  1. In the Mevo app, tap More Options (•••) in the lower right, then the microphone icon to open the Audio Mixer.
  2. You'll see two sources: Mevo (the camera mic) and the iPad (the mixer feed). Keep both on and use the sliders to balance them.
  3. Aim for levels between halfway and two-thirds up. If the meter flashes red, turn that source down.
  4. Do a short private test stream and listen back before you go live.

Go live

  1. In the Mevo app, start a stream and choose your platform.
  2. Log in to your own account when it asks.
  3. Add a title and choose who can see it (public, unlisted, or private).
  4. Go live. When you're done, end the stream in the app.

When you're done (important)

  • Log out of all your social media and streaming accounts on the iPad, in the Mevo app and in any other app or browser you used. The iPad is shared with the next guest.
  • Turn the camera off by holding the button on the back.
  • Leave the camera and the iPad plugged in. The outlet is right next to them.

Things to know

  • Only stream content that's yours, or that you have permission to share. See Schedule C of our Terms & Conditions.
  • Nothing is saved on the iPad for you. Your recordings live in your own streaming account.

Troubleshooting

  • The app can't find the camera: make sure the camera's lights are on, then close and reopen the Mevo app. Check that the iPad is connected to the Ypsi Wireless Wi-Fi.
  • No vocals on the stream: open the Audio Mixer and make sure the iPad source isn't muted, and that the Yamaha mixer's master fader is up. Check that the cable from the Yamaha mixer is plugged into the iPad. If it isn't, the adapter set is on the window shelf, to the left of the iPad.
  • The stream is choppy or keeps dropping: lower the stream quality in the app (try 720p) and try again.
